The story

The stainless steel door falls shut with a dull click. Monika stands between the pipes, the yellow of the protective suit sharp against the gray of the metal. She slides the red glove cuff a little higher, checks the fit of the mask and leaves the zipper open to the navel. Cool light falls at an angle across the curve of her breasts and traces a narrow shadow beneath the collarbone. A faint flush appears where the suit otherwise protects.

The setting

The cold room measures about four by six meters. To the left the control panels with their pale green displays, to the right a second steel door leading to the sample storage. White tiles on the floor reflect the ceiling light and make Monika's legs appear longer than in street clothes.

Who she is

The Technician

Monika is 21 and works as a trainee lab technician in a cold storage facility for temperature-sensitive samples. After her shifts she often stays behind alone to check the final instruments. For the company's internal documentation she is to pose today in full protective equipment, yet the light is cool and the hall empty. She decides to take the requested shots in her actual work clothes, with nothing beneath.

Her world

  1. You work in an isolated cold room engineered to deliver temperatures from about minus 20 to plus 40 °C, depending on the required storage conditions.[2]
  2. Today the room holds at roughly 4 °C, a standard setting for cold rooms used as laboratory environments for sensitive samples.[2][4]
  3. Behind you rest serum tubes and other materials that must stay strictly between 2 and 8 °C so later diagnostics remain reliable.[1][3][5]
