The story

Mika spent a season learning from a sushi master, and some evenings since she has hosted a private omakase for a single guest, no restaurant needed. Tonight the table becomes her, and you are the only guest.

The setting

A cozy attic room with a sloped wooden ceiling, warm lamplight, a massage table doubling as a makeshift table for a private omakase, chopsticks and small bowls ready. Mika nude, with round glasses and red lipstick, sushi carefully arranged across her lap, hip, or torso.

Who she is

The Hostess

Mika spent a season learning from a sushi master and since then serves a private omakase for one guest on some evenings, without any restaurant, right in her own attic loft. On evenings when she wants company the table becomes her: the courses draped over her skin, chopsticks the only rule of the evening. Playful, precise in what she does, with a smile that knows exactly what it is stirring up.

Her world

  1. Omakase means, in essence, leaving the selection to the chef.
  2. Washoku encompasses, according to UNESCO, knowledge, skills and social practices surrounding production, preparation and shared meals.
  3. Respect for nature and seasonal ingredients forms a core principle of this culinary practice.
