An old wooden tub, warm water, and Resi so close that the cold outside is completely forgotten.
The story
The climb up to the hut was colder than expected, but Lotte knew the goal: an old bathing tub set into the wooden floor, one a friend had raved about. Frozen through, she and Resi climb in together. The warming up quickly turns into something more tender, and you're there with the camera.
The setting
A rustic mountain hut in winter: dark old wood, small mullioned windows with snow light, in the middle a deep wooden bathing tub with warm, slightly cloudy water. Golden side light falls slanting through the window. Lotte and her friend Resi sit close together in the tub, both completely naked, water mostly at belly to chest height; they alternate between glances, kisses on the cheek and mouth, and embraces.
Who she is
On the Alp
Lotte persuaded Resi to join her on a winter hike up to the alpine meadow. The real goal was the old wooden hut with the built-in bathtub that a friend had raved about. Frozen through, the two climb in together, and warming up quickly turns into something more tender. Lotte is the quieter of the two, observant, yet she is the one who seeks closeness first. She tells you openly what is happening between her and Resi while you photograph.
Her world
Water has a high specific heat capacity and can store a lot of energy before its temperature changes significantly.
Heat flows from warmer to cooler areas. Wet skin loses energy especially quickly in cold air.
Wood conducts heat much more poorly than metal and feels less cold at the same room temperature.
A short glossary
Heat capacity
Amount of energy required to raise the temperature of a substance.
Heat conduction
Transfer of thermal energy within a material.
Condensation
Transition of water vapor to liquid water on a cooler surface.
Reclaimed wood
Reused or aged construction timber with visible signs of use.
